I learned sales from the ground up: cold calling, needs analysis, closing and, as Regionalgeschäftsstellenleiter (head of a regional office), my own team of eight advisors. I am in the final year of a work-integrated, on-campus electrical engineering degree in Munich. For SALOONEA, my wife’s social media agency for beauty studios, I built the sales process digitally together with her: a website with an enquiry form, an internal sales tool for enquiries and meetings, and Studio OS, an app for the beauty studios the agency looks after. I built it with AI tools.

Motivation

Why CONTACT

  • Software for engineering and production

CONTACT develops open software for product development and production: PLM, MES and IoT on one platform. In project monitoring, I check whether the work on site matches the design documents. That is why I understand why engineering and production should work from the same data.

  • A team being built

The role belongs to the newly formed Sales Operations team, which handles, acquires and qualifies leads. Building processes rather than just taking them over: that is exactly what I did for my wife’s agency, from the enquiry form to the prepared sales conversation.

  • Learning with a system

CONTACT offers comprehensive training in sales and products. I will make full use of it: I pick up new things quickly, most recently how to build software with AI tools, for my wife’s agency alongside studies and job.

Overview

From target account to qualified meeting

Six stages from the target account to the hand-off to sales, as I understand the role. Each stage shows what happens there, what I already bring and how I would approach it.

Stage 01 of 06

Understand the accounts

What happens here: Before a company is approached, it must be clear why this one and why now: growth, a new plant, job ads in engineering or production, a legacy system that is due for replacement.

What I bring

  • Before every first meeting, I researched the beauty studio that enquired, using AI and public sources, and kept the result in a short profile.

Evidence SALOONEA, one profile per prospect

  • We analysed the first enquiries from our form with AI. As a result, I replaced a question where most studios had only picked “full package” or “not sure yet”.

    Evidence SALOONEA, enquiry form

  • I track which channel an enquiry comes from (UTM source tracking, only with consent).

    Evidence saloonea.de

How I would approach it at CONTACTProposal

Target market, for example: mid-sized machinery and plant manufacturers in southern Germany. I would collect public signals at company level, such as job ads for PLM or MES roles, new plants or reports on digitalisation projects, and call first where the signal is freshest. Which segments come first I would agree with sales and marketing.

Stage 02 of 06

Relevant outreach

What happens here: The first call decides whether a head of engineering or production listens. One concrete question works better than a list of features.

What I bring

  • Cold calling and winning my own clients at Deutsche Vermögensberatung. Rejection was part of every day; I set up my own meetings.

    Evidence DVAG, Nov 2021 – Jun 2023

  • Ran training sessions and gave talks to larger groups. Speaking in front of people is part of my everyday work.

    Evidence DVAG

How I would approach it at CONTACTProposal · fictional person

“Good morning, Ms Example, this is Furkan Dag from CONTACT Software. I am calling unannounced, so I will keep it short. I am talking to heads of engineering and production in mechanical engineering at the moment, because many still keep their design and production data in separate systems. One question, then you decide whether it is relevant: how long does it take at your company for a design change to reach production?”

I would agree the exact wording and the order of phone and email with the team. In Germany, the rules for promotional emails to businesses are stricter than for calls.

Stage 03 of 06

Qualify the need

What happens here: Not every contact is a case for CONTACT. Qualifying means understanding the situation, the problem, its consequences, the trigger and the decision-makers early.

What I bring

  • Needs analyses for private and business clients, from the first question to the recommendation.

    Evidence DVAG

  • On the agency’s website I built an enquiry form with 14 questions about the studio, its goals and the desired scope. So before the first conversation it is already clear what a studio needs and which package fits.

    Evidence SALOONEA, in production

How I would approach it at CONTACTProposal

My qualification questions

  • Which systems hold design and production data today?
  • Where does information get lost between engineering and production?
  • What does that cost: rework, delays, duplicate work?
  • Is there a trigger, such as a new plant, an ERP migration or an audit?
  • Who decides with them: engineering, production, IT, management?

Stage 04 of 06

Place the value

What happens here: The first conversation does not need every feature explained. What matters is understanding which problem the software solves and putting the value in the customer’s own words.

What I bring

  • Work-integrated bachelor’s in electrical engineering at IU Munich, 135 of 180 ECTS, current average 1.8. Selected modules: Fundamentals of Electronics (1.0), Mechatronic Systems (1.0), Op-Amp Circuits (1.3), Microcontrollers and Logic Circuits (1.3).

Evidence Transcript of Records, attached to my application

  • Since Oct 2023 at a building services engineering firm: project monitoring and site supervision support, with insight into the design of electrical and building automation systems.

Evidence San TGA Engineering GmbH, Munich

  • At SALOONEA, I explained to studio owners without jargon what our app Studio OS changes in their everyday work: appointments, customers and our tasks for them in one place.

    Evidence SALOONEA, sales meetings

How I would approach it at CONTACTProposal

How I would get up to speed

For each core topic, PLM, MES and IoT, I write myself one page in my own words: which problem, for whom, typical questions and the point where the presales team takes over. I agree these pages with presales. If it is useful for the team, I would also run short introductory demos; deeper demos stay with the specialists.

Stage 05 of 06

Structured hand-off

What happens here: An SDR hands over qualified meetings with full context to account management and presales. Whatever gets lost here is missing in the sales conversation.

What I bring

  • At SALOONEA, the enquiry, the meeting and the call guide all land in our internal sales tool, the Command Center, which I built for this. So every sales conversation starts with all the information.

Evidence SALOONEA, Command Center in internal use

  • Closing on commission and my own team: at Deutsche Vermögensberatung I worked my way up from assistant advisor via Agenturleiter to Regionalgeschäftsstellenleiter (head of a regional office). Recruited and actively led 8 advisors, trained many more, ran training sessions.

    Evidence DVAG, Nov 2021 – Jun 2023

How I would approach it at CONTACTProposal

My hand-off note to account management

  • Company and industry
  • Contact (role)
  • Current systems and processes
  • Problem in the customer’s words
  • Trigger and timing
  • Who else decides
  • Agreed next step

Stage 06 of 06

Improve the process

What happens here: A new team builds its processes first. That includes measuring, automating routine steps and feeding insights back to marketing and sales.

What I bring

  • I analysed our enquiry path: some studios sent the form but then did not book a meeting. I found the cause: on phones, the booking button sat outside the visible area. The fix is in progress.

    Evidence SALOONEA, enquiry form

  • For my wife’s social media agency, I built the sales process digitally together with her: a website with an enquiry form, an internal sales tool for enquiries and meetings, and Studio OS, an app for the beauty studios the agency looks after. I decide what gets built and how the processes work. AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) implemented it to my specifications, so most of the code is written by the AI. I check every result before it goes into use.

Case study: problem, decision, my part, build, check
Problem
Without up-front questions, every first meeting starts from zero: what does the studio need, which scope fits, when should it start?
Decision
Instead of a plain contact form, 14 targeted questions; one of them suggests the right package. The studio books a meeting only after sending the form, so no enquiry gets lost.
My part
Designed the flow and the questions together with my wife; specifications, decisions and sign-off are mine. Most of the code was written by AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex).
Build
Website, input checks and spam protection, storage in a protected database, instant email to the team, booking via Calendly. Which channel an enquiry comes from is only measured with consent.
Check
192 automated website tests passing (test run of 27 Sep 2026). After analysing the first enquiries, I replaced a question that hardly distinguished between studios.
Value
The sales conversation starts with context: answers about the studio, its goals and the desired scope are there beforehand.
U2 Command CenterOur internal sales tool: every enquiry lands here with all its answers, together with the booked meeting and a guide for the first conversation. in internal use Login with two-factor protection · internal only, because it holds real client data
Case study: problem, decision, my part, build, check
Problem
Enquiry, meeting and call preparation belong in one place, otherwise context gets lost between the enquiry and the conversation.
Decision
A dedicated internal tool for the flow enquiry → first meeting → offer, with two-factor login.
My part
Defined the flow, stages and rules; sign-off. Code mostly by AI coding tools.
Build
Web application on the same database as the enquiry form. In use are the inbox, meetings and the call guide; further stages for the offer, closing and onboarding the client are built but not yet released.
Check
New stages go into use only after my sign-off; before that, a second AI usually reviews them independently.
Value
Every sales conversation starts with all the information.
U3 Strategy questionnairesAfter the first meeting, every studio gets a personal online questionnaire. The answers are the basis for the offer; it can be saved halfway, and we get notified. in production 2 questionnaires in use (Sep 2026) · no public links because they contain studio names

U4 Studio OSAn app for the beauty studios the agency looks after. The owner has her studio’s day-to-day in one place: appointments, customers and enquiries, income and expenses, materials and documents. Case study: problem, decision, my part, build, check
Problem
The idea: requests from us, appointments, customers, receipts and social media tasks in one app instead of many.
Decision
One shared base for the web app and a later iPhone version. The AI is a connected service, not an own model. The app shows its suggestions for confirmation before saving; if the AI fails, fixed rules take over.
My part
Co-developed the product idea; specifications, decisions and sign-off. Code mostly by AI coding tools.
Build
Web app with an online database and access protection, connected to the agency’s Command Center. Running in a pilot phase.
Check

How I build with AI

  1. Clarify the requirements and write them down
  2. Approve the design
  3. Have it built: Claude Code for app and website, Codex for the server side
  4. A second AI reviews it independently
  5. Testing without real client data
  6. My sign-off, then into use

How I would approach it at CONTACTProposal

What I would measure at CONTACT

Dials, conversations, qualified meetings and accepted hand-offs, plus what customers say in their own words, as feedback for marketing and campaigns. I automate recurring steps such as research and hand-off notes so that more time is left for conversations.

The person

What drives me

Three strengths, each with evidence from my track record, and what defines me outside work.

  • Eager to learn

I teach myself new things proactively.

    Evidence

For my wife’s agency, I taught myself to build software with AI tools alongside a work-integrated degree: a website with an enquiry form, an internal sales tool and an app for the studios the agency looks after.

  • Goal-driven

What I start, I finish, precisely and fast.

    Evidence

In 20 months from assistant advisor to Regionalgeschäftsstellenleiter (head of a regional office).

  • Resilient and a team player

I stay calm under pressure and like working in a team.

    Evidence

Daily cold calling with rejection; studies, job and SALOONEA in parallel; led a team of 8 advisors.

  • Competitive sports

For 13 years, across several disciplines.

    Evidence

Daily training and a strict diet. Discipline and routine are part of my everyday life.

Learning fields

What I am still learning

Three fields I am getting into, each with the plan behind it.

  1. E1

I do not yet know PLM, MES or IoT from projects or from sales.

Before I start, learn the key terms and the typical questions of manufacturing companies, using CONTACT’s public material and events, so that I recognise needs correctly and hand them over cleanly to presales.

  2. E2

I have not yet used a bought-in CRM system in daily work. I built our sales tool for SALOONEA myself.

Keep the CRM at CONTACT clean from day one. The logic behind it, stages, required fields and hand-offs, I know from building my own.

  3. E3

Software sales to industrial companies is new to me, and so is English at negotiation level. Acquisition and qualification I know from self-employed sales.

Practise openers for industrial customers before I start and ask for feedback; train business English regularly. From day one: fixed calling blocks and a weekly review of my numbers.
